The Three Rivers Lodge
Some Day Trip destinations:
Borgarfjörður, Barnafossar waterfalls and Lagnjökull glacier.
Take your swimsuit with you as you might want to dip into one of the pools in the area.
On the way and perhaps a destination in itself Whalefjord (Hvalfjörður) with its Salmon River and a trail that passes a waterfall deep in the bottom of the fjord. There is a fine restaurant at Glymur.
Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss waterfalls, Sólheimajökull glacier and Dyrhólaey.
On your way you might want to stop by the Wonderful restaurant Hafið Bláa (Blue Ocean) and enjoy the view of breaking waves on the long black sand beach. 35 minutes drive from the Three Rivers Lodge.
You might also want to consider driving a little longer on the Ring Road than Dyrhólaey to a village called Vík.
Snæfellsness Peninsula.
Great to visit on a sunny day or a northern light lit night.
Hengill hiking and geothermal area.
Swimsuit optional natural jacuzzi is hidden in the mountains.
Þingvellir. Gullfoss, Geysir.
Þingvellir is on UNESCO World Heritage Site List. It takes less than half an hour to drive to Þingvellir from the Three Rivers Lodge.
The Blue Lagoon, Krísuvík and Hafnarfjörður.
On your way back from the Blue Lagoon consider dining in one of Hafnarfjörður fine restaurants.
Westman Islands.
It is only a short flight to Westman Islands. You can also drive taking the ferry from Þorlákshöfn. Keiko from Free Willy lived there for a while.
